Been thinking about some new rims (et40), of the large variety by the title. In looking through the glossary that is NAM I haven't got a definitive answer to what profile I should run. Currently I'm running 215/45/17's on H-sports, and don't want to ADD wheel gap as I go bigger. I used a tire calculator and found that if I run 35/18's I'll actually lose a significant amount of diameter, resulting in wheel gap similar to when I had 215/40/17's. Not terrible, but not practical if I'm gaining gap. The same calculator with a 215/40/18 shows only an increase of .1" over the 45/17's, which sounds good to me. I guess my questions are:

(1) does this sounds about right?

(2) how much stretch will 215's have on an 8" wheel?

Keep in mind I have a MC so the H-sport drop may be a little less than what it does to an MCS. I do already rub over large bumps, to the extent that some of the fender lining is worn down, thus making any dremmel work easier later. Thanks in advance.

I dont know much about the bigger sized wheels and their tires....but for #2 it will depend on the tire. Some tires just dont stretch.

I would bet that if you went with falken ziex's you might see a tiny stretch. 205 would definitely show stretch. I think either size would be a good bet....the 205's may allow for more options if you wanna check those out

thanks bro. I'm deciding between a barely used pair and just going new, so I may not have a choice in the matter, but if the used set has 35/18's, I might just pass...decisions, decisions.

if you run an 8" wheel and dont want the stretched look you will need to run 225's, I just went through the same situation. I had 215's on 8's and they were more stretched than I liked so I put on 225's and amazingly they actually fit! I have no rubbing at all and I trimmed NOTHING, I am running a little more camber than most though ;)
