dry carbon dash and downtubes.

Here's a DIY job from a first-timer over on the NAM board.
Most of you guys know I install this stuff for a living in the tri-state area... so its always cool to see someone do it themselves with material you ship them.

Mmmmm... delicious. Looks very excellent. Any plans for the interior door trim?

xnotfunkylex 09-11-2009 09:10 AM

That's some nice work.

jbell 09-12-2009 10:04 PM

Sweet...............Which color / pattern is this application called ?

How much material / cost is required to do the dash/down tubes and maybe the door grabs ?

Does this MINI have a glove box door delete or something ? L@@ks different....I like it.

you know, I'm not really sure. The owner is from NM, so it is a US car.

It's DrPhilGandini's car. He talks about that "glovebox" here.

This stuff is the new plasti-dip, huh?

jbell 09-12-2009 10:34 PM

pretty much. :) just as easy to use, much more pleasing to my eye at least. i bought so much, i'm an installer of the product now, and i have a website retailing it. haha. i'm one of 2 or 3.

check out this youtube video showing how easy it is to use this stuff.

I was thinking the same thing. I cant wait till this fad passes... and people stop calling it "dry carbon wrap" I mean for god sake it's a vinyl sticker imprinted with marks to emulate carbon. Not dry carbon.

jbell 09-12-2009 11:23 PM

that name isn't catch enough, lol.

i'm down for whoever doesn't like it. everyone has their tastes.

Personally, I just wanted to cover up my shiny ass dashboard with something that would break up reflections at night.

I've worked in the "vinyl business" for 6+ years now. For 6+ years, i've been looking for a good carbon fiber vinyl. this is finally it. it's expensive, and a bitch to get, but its worth it- compared to the other crap out there they call carbon fiber.

It's the usual MINI fad. Everyone just wants something that's cheap and easy to do I guess :(
