so im thinking about finally lowering my car since i just got the 17in bbs rims..i was just wondering if it was possible to install the springs myself, a friend of mine said you need a compression machine to put the springs in, but i doubt it..thanx for your responses...mario:)

You can rent spring compressors from most auto parts stores, but most people use ratchet straps to compress them, after finding that most spring compressors don't fit too well inside the confines of the strut towers. Springs are definitely a do-it-yourself project, if you've got the tools and the patience!

You need something to compress the springs in order to get them on the strut correctly. A compression machine will assist greatly, but there are hand tools you can use to do it. It would be a major PITA though

cool, i'll probably rent a spring compressor since i dont have the patience and i also want to do it correctly..thanx!..mario

i got my spring compressors from Harbor freight for about $12... it's near the corner of PCH and Oak in lomita (just a jump down from the PV area :tu: )

Ooh, and one with huge pictures:

I'm sure we'll get around to doing a step-by-step on springs, but since there are already so many of them around, I figured I'd just link you to 'em. ;)

Exactly what I was going to suggest.Well, not that exact store cause I don't live near there but yeah, Harbor Freight has them, cheap and easy.
