Ducks '85 911

As some of you may know already I sold the Miata and bought a '85 3.2 911.

Although there was no rust to be found anywhere it was in dire need of a repaint.

Got the car looking like this (extremely bad photo :D)

After just a week it died on me. Luckily it was just the alternator. It was a proud and sad moment at the same time. Owning three lovely cars with non of them running. :P

Decided that while it was down I might as well get the repaint done. Shaved the bumpers, added a whale tail and a Ruf valance. Also added half an inch to the BBS RS.

Say hello to the new daily.

Beautiful....I'm super jealous.

Please tell us that's your garage.

If so. Game over, you win :P

I'd wish... It's Beek Auto Racing. But they let me store my cars and I can work on them when ever I want. They do quite a bit of work on the cars as well. Mostly engine related.

VicSkimmr 10-28-2014 01:08 PM

Unacceptable without a proper ass shot

That's very generous of them!

I was hot to trot for a G50 911 in the last year and ended up with a classic Caddy instead....

I WILL have one someday though, and there's a guy in town that is the Orig, owner on a 71 or 2 that I supposedly have first right of refusal on if he ever sells it.

I'm REALLY digging the Cayman's too, but now that the 13's have come out it makes the older ones look dated....

Nice car for sure!If I lived in a warmer climate I would definitely have one but putting cars away for 3-4 mos or more a year makes it a little harder to justify.

ducks 11-02-2014 04:33 PM

Finally some better photo's. And an ass shot as requested ;)

The Ruf valance needs to adjusted as the gap on the right side is too big. Also want to paint the lower strip black on the valance as the original is black as well.

Tit 11-02-2014 08:14 PM

No bumperettes on the rear. Nice!

Got any interior shots?

I've been thinking of trimming some pole positions with night watch tartan (mines a dark blue interior).

Snip's 11-02-2014 08:56 PM

I'm starting to hate both of you guys.....:tu:

ducks 11-10-2014 09:47 PM

Interior is still a mess. Have some lovely Recaro spider reproductions in carbon. But the rest is quite nasty. Tan carpets don't hold too well after 29 years. Plan is to do the carpets in black RS silverknit.

Did some cleaning. Removed the aircon, backdated the heat and removed the standard airbox. Went on the dyno after that and it showed a healthy 217bhp.

Looks great Ducks. I caught the Porsche bug myself with a Carrera white 997...

I seriously can't wait to see what you do with this. :D

ducks 04-03-2015 08:33 PM

As it was using quite a bit of oil (1 quart every 500 miles) it was time to do a top end rebuild. After the leak test it showed compression loss on the nr6 cylinder. After the engine teardown it was obvious

http://i596.photobucket.com/albums/t...ps6hbptzo1.jpg

Everything cleaned and 6 new valves

http://i596.photobucket.com/albums/t...psublv2wlx.jpg

Beek had some sports cams laying around so why not put them in while everything was opened up. Which resulted in is pretty good figures.

http://i596.photobucket.com/albums/t...ps0jwd7tdk.jpg

So it has 964 power in a lighter chassis. Also installed the gearbox that I had build for the white one. Very short gears so goes like stink. Won't go above 125mph though :D

And what is a 911 without some e50's ;)

Very nice Olaf!

Tit 04-06-2015 12:25 AM

How were your head studs, BTW?

Did they say what would cause that sort of valve damage?

ducks 04-06-2015 08:28 AM

Head studs were fine. Replaced them nevertheless. Melting a hole in a valve is usually running too lean.

VicSkimmr 04-06-2015 04:54 PM

Those e50s, :dribble:

Tit 04-06-2015 09:55 PM

Mine needed new valve guides and the timing chain guide and some of the rockers were degrading. Everything else was good. Still haven't dynoed it yet though.

Lookin at your new wheels....One thing I like about the torsion bar cars is you can get better offsets for wheels. Stupid coil-springs :P

ducks 04-29-2015 05:16 PM

On the ring.

VicSkimmr 04-29-2015 05:23 PM

This thing is classy as hell.

ducks 06-16-2015 08:24 PM

A couple of small updates. Replaced the reflector between the tail lights with a body coloured one and installed a early turbo/carrera 3.0 style whale tail.

No wiper on the rear window as well?

MartijnGizmo 06-17-2015 09:44 AM

Like the new wing!

Killer bud.

On the 911 it's part of the rear deck lid. On the 964 it's part of the rear window AFAIK so a lot harder to remove.

Chase 06-19-2015 02:37 PM

Got mine at the shop today, Hopefully figuring out the oil spewing problem. and just hoping its not a crazy engine out fix

Yessir it is. Most guys use a plug kit.

If it's a problem with the tensioner they should be able to fix it with the engine in the car.

Where's the leak? What model is it again?

Chase 06-23-2015 03:32 PM

Found out its just an oil line broke. Should be fixed today. Yay

ducks 06-23-2015 10:02 PM

Good news!

ducks 03-16-2016 12:07 PM

As I do about 15k miles a year it was time for a sensible daily. So I bought a 750 ...

Keeping the Porsche for the weekend.

CSMatt 03-16-2016 01:17 PM

Porsche is badass!!!

Tit 03-16-2016 09:38 PM

Sensible until something breaks on that space-ship! :P
Looks comfy!

I had to daily the Porsche for two weeks because the mini had a leak out of the thermostat and I was waiting for a spot at my mechcanic. Summer has just finished and the P-car's aircon can't hold it's gas. Driving that car in traffic and 37 degree C heat was not cool (pun intended).

Was happy to get the mini back. P-car is a weekend car for sure!

werD 03-20-2016 12:22 AM

Damn. A sensible daily driver is a Bring My Wallet 7 series? :laff:

They are cool rides though, the pre-Bangle series look very classy.
