Motorcycle owners thread

I can think of a bunch of people on here that are motorcycle owners, and it's time we have an area to talk bikes. I've already got a thread going for my 1976 Honda CB750F SuperSport, but seeing as that has turned into a much larger project than I originally intended, I just picked up a 1977 Yamaha XS400 so that I can start riding now.:laff:

So, what are you riding? Do you have any plans for it? Track days, Tail of the Dragon, shows? I know we've got the thread for pictures of bikes, but let's make this a discussion thread. I'm sure I'll have questions, and though there are forums and books out there for every bike, I'd rather discuss it with my fellow M|U bretheren when possible.

And since every thread needs pictures, here's my new bike. Better pictures coming soon. :)

Here's my latest toy, a CB750K4. It had only one owner and he made it a chopper back in the late 70's and its looked like this for nearly the last 40 years.

Sweet!

Yay! This will be a good thread.

I really should take mine out to take pictures. This is the only good one I have of its current state

Actually that's not even accurate because I've replaced the master cylinder since then.

I didn't know you had a Grom. Those things are awesome :tu:

got the grom shortly after the new year. it was a perfect next step up from the scooter. definitely a fun city commuter!

I picked up the XS400 and rode it home yesterday. Roughly 50 miles of back roads, and overall it did great. I struggled a little due to inexperience, but mostly because it was sputtering a lot at anything under 3k RPM. Not a big deal, as I felt comfortable with the power and response between 4-5k anyway. It did leave me having to rev it anytime I stopped so that it wouldn't stall, because it was tough to get it to restart with the low RPM issues as well. Starting in first gear required being at 3K or more to keep it from bogging down, but once I got going it did fine.

I'm going to have a buddy check it out that is more familar with carbs and motorcycle repairs than I am and see if we just have a simple tuning issue, bad fuel, or what else might correct that. Once that's good it should be a great bike for around town. I think I'll end up moving to clip on bars sooner than expected, as I've got to crouch pretty far down at anything over 55mph anyway.

So, to sum it up, I'm a very happy owner. The CB750 project is fun to work on, but I really enjoy riding this one, so hopefully I can still spend some time in the garage and not just out on the XS400. :P

Also, that Grom is badass. I see a guy riding one on my morning commute and it's very cool looking. :tu:

And Rick, with your CB750 that makes at least 4 of us on here that I know of with 4-cyl SOHC CB's.

I knew we'd see you join in here! Love your bikes. :tu:

I love the Grom, apparently the 2015 models will have white and blue hopefully.

Also it sounds like Yamaha might be coming out with a grom competitor.

When he was born I was thinking I'd get him started when he was around 6, and wondered how I would be able to wait that long. I never imagined he'd be riding at 3. Both of us riding this past Father's day:
