July 2013 Photography Theme: Eyes
The theme for this month is Eyes. Seems this one won't need a description.:P You can post before and after photos to show your editing if you would like, multiple photos, etc. This isn't a contest, just a theme to get people active with photography. Edit, don't edit. Post various editing methods of one shot. Just wing it! Less rules, more freedom for interpretation. Hopefully we can all offer some good constructive criticism to help each other improve!

Ohhhh. I like this one :) thank you!

Waited some time to get this shot right, took it at the weekend so hopefully this one fits the theme/month :D

Original Raw file and edited version using Lightroom 5, with just a saturation boost, mild sharpening, contrast/clarity boost and a tighter crop. Sometimes I like the original better as it feels more "real".

fantastic :tu: I tend to do a light brush on eyes with a bit of saturation and a bump in exposure to help bring the attention to them, but I love both versions.

I like the edit a lot. It brings it a lot of depth into the photo that was missing with the original. Nice job! :tu:

This one didn't work out as I'd hoped, my glasses have an anti-reflective coating on them which hindered the camera's ability to pick up the reflection of what I was looking at in them :( It had so much potential too.

Wow, that is awesome. Great work on the depth of field at such close focus!

That 6D looks better at ISO1600 than my D7000 at 250 LOL.

VicSkimmr 07-04-2013 04:07 PM

It's retarded how well it handles higher ISO's. On my 40D anything above ISO 400 was basically junk. At the very least I'd lose a ton of detail. On the 6D I can easily push it to ISO 10,000 and even with a ton of noise reduction in LR it still has plenty of detail. I didn't do any noise reduction to that picture though.

holy crap that fly. How? What glass?

VicSkimmr 07-05-2013 01:58 AM

It's not as small as it looks, it was probably 3" head to tail and had a 3" wingspan, but I used my Sigma 150 macro lens. He was tame enough that I was at the minimum focus distance, so about 1.5 feet from it.

That dragonfly shot is unreal.

I thought this lil guy had cool eyes. I never noticed a turtle's eyes before...

This wee bastard is hell to capture. Been trying to shoot a mantis (I've seen at least two) in my garden for 4 days but it seems they are mostly active at night. Wound up getting my best shot with the S3 LOL need to get a good head on shot though.

Also need to get the dragonfly to trust me like the one did a couple years back

This was difficult to get a sharp macro because these shrimp literally never stop moving. Finally got it after a few dozen shots.
