"Raising" a Mini in East Tennessee

Knoxville area Mini owner, Leslie, brought her Mini back home with her from Europe, from her time of service in the armed forces. She and my husband, David dismantled it and sent it to a body shop where it became marooned for almost two years.

It's back at our place and we decided to do a "Mini Raising" with local club members and Mini owners, to put it on the fast track to restoration. Today is the day. :) :) :)

7:15 AM, quiet and peaceful as the early shift arrives.

A bit of prep work yesterday by Eric Cannon (Dr Mini's son), the headliner went in.

It was understood that insurance work (i.e. more money) at the body shop would come first. It stayed at one for 6 mos and wasn't touched. It moved to a second one and was there another 12 mos. It did end up with a high end paint job for a reasonable price.

I commend you. I would have been bald by assembly time. :D

This is so fun to watch/read. Please keep the updates comming. I leave work at 2pm (Pacific Time). I expect the MINI to be moving under it's own power by then. :P

Rusted together old parts? Is he kidding or is that the truth? :eek: It's still early you know - on a Saturday - and the mid-Atlantic state that you're in, I'm sure there can be something that can be done ;) Keep us posted!!

But before that...........new brake lines in, wheel cylinders, 1st piece of carpet fitted. The delay has been caused by removal of old brake parts, things all rusted together and not wanting to leave their spot after being there for over 30 years.
Corrosion ::), imagine that.
