Adhesive removes quite easily with isopropyl...

Adhesive removes quite easily with isopropyl alcohol. It won't ruin paint but easily takes care of old adhesive residue from stickers, window tint, etc.
Just make sure that you rewax the area...

The only way to do it was to cut into the crash bar so that I could fit the sockets/ wrenches to torque it down.
Structurally though it should still be good but we'll see once it's actually used....

Yup.
That was an area that needed some bracing and believe me, was it ever noticeable when it was installed.
So between the floor brace and the V-brace, it's quite solid now on the frame rails...
