Chase, correct me if I'm wrong.....

I was under the impression that our fuel systems, being vacuum / boost regulated, worked in a way that the factory regulator would limit the fuel pressure coming from the pump, (stock or higher pressure) up until a certain point of boost, then it is just "wide open". So if you were running a higher pressure fuel pump, you could plumb from the end of the rail to the regulator, then into the fuel tank, so anything higher than the set amount on that regulator would simply return.

Or have I over simplified this and am missing something?
