You can't really use Ducks' R56 for comparison, since he's running a 5-lug conversion with a size only available with 5x114.3 bolt pattern. The 4x100 widths are not as wide, so getting an aggressive setup isn't as easy. If you want it to look a bit more aggressive you'll really want something at least 7.5" wide, with 8" or more being preferred. There are lots of wheels available in 17x8 et30-35 which is a proven setup on the R50-56 platforms.

I would ignore your spacers as part of your wheel purchase unless you really can't find anything you like without using them. All they're doing is pushing your stock width/offset wheel setup out a little, which looks a little better than stock but doesn't really help much with your goals. Instead, consider a 17x8 with 215/40 tires and I think you'll be happy with the results.

That figures a 15mm spacer on a stock wheel vs. 8" wide et35. Since the wheel is 14.7mm closer to the strut than the original wheel, it's nearly identical to original wheel inset and will bolt up without issue no matter what suspension you're on.
