Default Help me choose a tripod. Recommendations?

I didn't want to thread jack Ivan's tripod thread, so:

What do you guys think about these tripods? They're all Sunpaks, and I already have a sunpak monopod that I like, so I'm sticking with the brand. Which would you recommend? $120ish is the highest I'd go right now for a tripod.

Any other recommendations on tripods? Links please!!!

save for a manfrotto with a ballhead. I have had some cheap tripods and they never hold the camera still

Manfrotto 190XB 3 Section Aluminum Tripod
Manfrotto 496RC2 Ball Head with Quick Release Replaces Manfrotto 486RC2
are what I roll with and they weren't much more then those sunpaks.

or
Look at the weight rating and the weight of your heaviest gear and make the choice that way.

Fml sometimes I shoot with this (it's my friend's lens, I'm not made of money) and this is mainly what I need the tripod for:

It's like 5 pounds all together with the camera.

Buy Ivan's. Seriously.

Just slightly out of the desired budget range and a very good piece of gear to strap said $2800 (replacement cost) lens atop.

Sunpak's vary greatly, some are decent and others are crap. The bulk of what your have listed above are decent legs and lousy heads (flimsy, plastic construction for the most part).

Ivan's setup, by comparison, is a full set of metal legs and a nice metal head. Far better option to support that much weight and $$$...

Just sayin'.

At 200mm and even at shorter focal lengths, pretty much any $100 tripod you buy is going to shake and/or not hold its position with that much weight on it. I bought the tripod I got partially because I wanted to try my hand at astrophotography using a friend's 500mm reflex lens (among other glass), but he ended up getting rid of it before I could do much with it. That and some long exposure night photography, but right now I need money more than I need long exposure photography. Anyway, the tripod was spec'd out in consideration of heavier weights and longer focal lengths, so it fits the bill.

I would honestly be afraid to put that much gear, in both weight and money, on top of a crappy $100 tripod. If you read some articles online about tripods, even what I got is a compromise (Thom Hogan recommends tripods no cheaper than $1000), but it's more than enough for what you're mounting on it.

Ok guys. I'm trying to sell some stuff to afford your tripod. You convinced me I'll let you know in a few days when I have the money. Was it $250 or $275?
