I remember reading somewhere that there were occasional failures of that module because of the brake light. I thought that was what the resister was for. from an electronics POV I can see that the control module is designed to have an output of x ohms of resistance and having more bulbs increases the resistance. I never looked into it further but I think you got lucky to get it fixed!

the problem would be with the resistor.. you are now putting a load on the lamp driver that is un necessary. the best course of action, if no fog lights, is just a jumper, if anything it will make the lamps a little dimmer. If you have fog lamps, you use a diode to stop the brake lights from lighting up when the fogs are on.

I just modded my rear fogs so only the driver side lamp is lit when the fogs are on...

i also forgot to mention that all my bulbs were upgraded too, so mayb that helped to corrupt da circuit.....
