Default Briana's classic Austin Mini Cooper.

and im all about it.

Any help is appreciated!

Maybe one of you has an extra?

There is such a wealth of info here. It can be from almost any year or place in the country. Any engine though something close to OEM stock would be preferred. Her price range is 4k-6k, and though a Cali car is preferred its not necessary. Nothing between 68 and 74 will be allowed into Cali so we have to avoid these years. Are there any things in particular we should know to look out for?

we are looking for resources if anyone knows of good sites to find used MINIs. so far i only got a few.

some contenders so far:

http://www.minimania.com/web/id/9915...ale_Detail.cfm

http://www.minimania.com/web/id/9902...ale_Detail.cfm

opinions and advice welcome!

actually, I'm not sure about the 68-74 year exclusion in CA. I haven't been able to locate anything on the DMV's website about it.

the only reason I even found out it could be an issue is from reading this:
http://www.miniguy.com/Consign1?id=4...27d7d64e37a6d5
and that was posted years ago.
all I can find on the DMV site is that I don't have to smog anything from 75 or earlier.
any help on that would be appreciated..

also, I don't want a car with a bunch of mods.

I prefer the smaller engines, I like to drive slow! efficiency is fun!

and I want to paint it, so the uglier the color I buy it with the better. It will give me more motivation to paint it, and less other people will want it, so I save $$. win win.

I would give Mini Mania a call. They are one of the best sources in the USA for classic Mini parts and have been dealing with classics for years. They are also located in California so they should know the specifics about getting them legally registered here.

call the dmv or go in to the info desk, they'll confirm if you can do it or not.

i'm pretty sure if the car is already registered in the US then you shouldn't have any problems registering it here in CA.

I know of a RHD automatic modern classic for sale. I believe it's a 94-95. Brought back from Japan by my co-worker after a stint in the marines. It's not a cheap one by any means but it's very well sorted.

I have a 998 Mini City. You can come buy it. Motor just blew up, so it needs a rebuild. I have a spare 1100 block, rods, pistons, head, and starter motors. Mine is an 81. Has nice flares and Mini-Lites.

what do they say? Bring a trailer?

nooo no more blown up engines!!!!!

that's why I'm buying the mini. my mazda engine blew up and needs to be rebuilt/replaced. it's been this enormously long stupid ordeal. I'm giving up and moving on to something that at least is drivable.

So how much? And how long you looking at holding on to it. We are moving in a few months, and if all goes right I am going to try to talk the wife into a garage ornament.
