To be honest I felt the same way as you Griff. I saw the trailers and it seemed like generic sci-fi and I felt like I could guess the story before even seeing it. That and the overdone use of CG just kind of turned me off.

After reading some reviews and hearing people talk about it, I am kind of geeked to go see it. The CG seems to be really well done and I am curious what Mr. Cameron has up his sleeve.

I don't really see this as a franchise, is it set up to go trilogy or something? That question is hard to answer. I think my natural position would be jaded, that I have been there before and not interested, but if it turns out to be good I would be all for it. Too scared of the Matrix effect I guess, first movie is awesome, sequels are crap.

I'd honestly prefer it if most movies never saw a sequel. Comic book movies aside, of course

I'm more excited about the last air bender than Avatar, to be honest. I just haven't been feelin' it.

That's one of only a handful of sequels I can think of that are equal or better than the original. For every T2 there are 20 Blade 3s

Well that movie was pretty much a live action version of Fern Gully.

but I agree with the general sentiment about this lead up to this..."meh". It has been getting good reviews so maybe I'll go see it over the holidays.
