Actually feels quite balanced at the moment but when I get the alignment stuff I'll have it all set up and corner weighted for fast road/track as I plan on doing some track days at some point. Plus I drive like a loon.... (password = MTFTW).... http://vimeo.com/19829603 ^ Notice the two "SLOW" warnings at 00:24 and 00:41 and the speedo says erm... 70 ish ![]() I used to run 15's with 195/55/15 but couldn't get the brakes under then so switched to the 16's in 205/50/15... I looked at a 55 but was way too chunky really. |

Thanks man! Haha, yea I love it!
![]() Hoping to get the fronts at a similar angle once I can afford camber plates and such, be nice to get them down to ET30 ish too ![]() Unfortunately though all my car money is being eaten up this year by the rather epic trip across the US in August ![]() Few more shots... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by batou; 05-29-2011 at 02:23 AM.. |

Thought I best keep this thread upto date really, few lowering related battle scars and some new bits added (nothing major)....
A detached jacking point and torn underneath of side skirt.... ![]() ![]() Split passenger size CV... ![]() Both sides had gone, that cv grease is horrible stuff and sticks to everything. Their are now replaced with along with some roll centre adjuster spacers from Kav's Motorsport to fix some of the front roll... ![]() ![]() This is the clearance on my wheels post trimming.... ![]() Definitely an improvement and more so in very fast corners. It does feel much flatter on turn in and seems to have balanced it out nicely. That intial front roll I noticed has definetly gone I'm really pleased by them! Much easier to follow my mates VX220 now ![]() Initially the steering didn't feel quite as precise but I do wonder if this is something to do with not having the offset bushes people have mentioned. It's still great though, so much fun. I didn't want to lose the chuckability of the car, and it hasn't, it's just improved I just really need a diff now. I love kicking the rear end on tight corners, yes not the fastest but my got does it make you smile! Excellent cost effective mod though, very pleased  Some pics of the a car up at my shop of choice... ![]() ![]() Also found the source of the vibration I've been getting was not the just CV boot failure it was actually the 7075 "high strength" alloy nuts!! Took them off and they were tight as a nuns arsehole, required a wheel brace throughout the whole thread! It was almost like they were cross threaded (but they weren't) and the front ones were actually what appears to be slightly deformed too, when undoing them I noticed an up and down rotation around the centre line. Took a lot of effort to get them off. Anyway, fitted my rather expensive (but boring looking) high tensile steel lug nuts in their place and took it for a spin and the violent vibration under load had gone! I could still feel a vibration from what must have been the CV failure. I screwed them down to the wheel all by hand, and then torqued them to spec really smooth threads not like the ones I took off. Anyway, happy indeed despite the set back. Heres the new ones, I went for black in the end as the lead time on lairy colours was 2-3 weeks.... ![]() ![]() ....tbh, I'm glad I didn't wait for another colour as it was basically an accident waiting to happen. Anyone looking to go studs make sure you go steel nuts! Thankfully, apart from the low speed vibration I've always had since it was lowered (and previously on springs) the car is now much smoother to drive! Last edited by batou; 05-29-2011 at 02:22 AM.. |

As I only have one set of side mounts I just did the drivers side, out came the stock piece of shit gravity leather seat weighing in at a whopping 21.7 kg...
Off came the pre-tensioner, one bolt (TX50) and the blue plug is a cunt to get between the plastic at the side of the seat when removing the pre-tensioner wire (you'll know what I mean). Luckily my first test fit looked like a success... ![]() Bolt, locking anti vibration washer and big fat nut.... ![]() And the seat... as you can see it looks a bit "loose" and "rippled" is because the cover spring tensioners that tighten up the covering are in the post ![]() ![]() After an initial check of the driving position/seat orientation I was happy with the 2 holes down on the front and 3 on that back, perfect. I wouldn't see a huge point in buckets if they were higher than this. I like to feel "in" a seat not "on" a seat. For those fitting theirs to stock runners save yourself the effort I'm 6 foot and it's spot on and I have room to go up a notch. Removed the seats and fitted the mounts to the car... behold the uber gay carpet ![]() ![]() Another shot of the seatbelt tensioner.... ![]() Fitted 11.5kg of seat and side mount, here you can see the damage to the seat, its not that bad tbh and it goes with the track slag look. They were so so cheap though! The other seat is a bit worse though lol.. ![]() Belt through the guide, the fitment when sat in it is perfect and the lap belt holds you snug so no issues there ![]() ![]() It was going oohh so well, to well I couldn't understand how me working on a car went so smoothly (easy job probably :laugh ![]() ![]() Sadly it didn't work, I have a feeling I didn't push the resistor in far enough and on the first turn of the key the airbag light stayed on... bollocks  So nipped out to check the belts, the tensioners work flawlessly, no issues at all.... apart from....... wow.... I will ruin my tyres!! You can hold so much more speed as the car feels much more balanced (those who went from stock seats to buckets will understand) you don't need to steady yourself in the seat you have so much more control and feel. Love it!! Just need a new wheel now ![]() ![]() Quote:
