Congrats on the house, Drew.

And congrats on the 944 Turbo. I had a 1988 944 NA. It was still a blast but I always wanted the turbo with black wheels so I could stand in front of it like Jake from Sixteen Candles. haha

Default I may be the new owner of an expensive water line....

Welp...

Looks like we have a leaker on our hands...

I called the city this morning to tell them their water main appears to be leaking out on the edge of my property...

They jumped right on it this morning and within an hour said they will start the dig Wednesday this week...

They have warned me that they think the leak is after the main shutoff valve which would mean I get stuck with the bill of running a new copper line up to my house of about 75 feet...

Guess it's better to have it taken care of now before the winter hits and it's minus 15F outside....

I have insurance on the gas line, I have insurance on the electric line. I have insurance on the sewer line...

Do I have insurance on the water line? No I don't....

The joys of owning your own home...

are they going to fix it, or do you have to take care of it?

After the city digs the hole down to the valve it should be clear who gets stuck with the repair...

I live in a very old neighborhood. It's quite possible the connection off the main water line is a lead connection at the shutoff valve.... The early failures all tend to be a result of using galvanized steel water lines that corrode fast. My waterline at the meter is 1" copper which I hope runs all the way to the valve....

The determining factor is if the leak is between the shutoff valve and my house it's on me. If it's between the valve and the main water line it's on them...

So Wednesday I get to find out one way or another.

Ya it was imported back in April. I am waiting on money transfers to go through and my parents are going to pick it up for me. I am currently in Australia so it is going to be a little hard for me to just head down the road to pick it up.

Is it an Aussie car? If you wanna catch up, drop me a line. I'm in Canberra.
