Good show. I was really excited for this year as I had seen most all of the major hitters that were nominated. "Slumdog Millionaire" was great, but I really found Milk more compelling. Meryl Streep's performance in "Doubt" was stonger than Kate Winslet's role in "The Reader", although BOTH were great. I really wanted to see Mickey Rourke take home the Best Actor award, his performance was one that will be hard for him to trump in future roles. I was still happy that Sean Penn took the award. Penn's version of Harvey Milk was so convincing.

I can go on and on about all this, and while the rest of the world is on a "Slumdog Millionaire" kick, go see "Milk", "Doubt", "The Reader", and "Vicky Christina Barcelona". They are all great films that deserve a watch.

Omg Ive always loved Mickey Rourke. My Grandmother lives in the same tower in LA that he does (she said she shared an elevator with him on several occasions). She always made a note that Rourke always treated his dogs like gold when she was around him. Me being a big animal lover I think thats awesome.

When I saw SlumdogMillionaire it just didnt blew me away. Its a good movie but the amount of oscars it got is just too much. Because of the last.. 5 years oscars have depreciated value to me- maybe cause of the crisis

I'm dissapointed Revolutionary Road didnt get more nominations, esspecially for Thomas Newman's score. Probably best movie this year, too me better than Milk, Button and Slumdog.

Most of the reason I watch the show is for the fashion.
REALLY ugly dresses this year. Goldie Hawn and Tilda Swinton should fire their stylists immediately.

Seriously! I mean she otherwise looks great for her age, but that dress was hanging on for dear life.

Wasn't there an earlier film about Harvey Milk? Not that it matters, I'll still make an effort to see Penn's - but I have a bunch of sound track music from Mark Isham and one of the tracks is labeled "Life and Times of Harvey Milk".
