I keep a couple of sacrificial lug nuts around for that purpose. Much easier to get a square blow on it with a larger hammer than trying to drive on the rounded end of the stud, even if you're throwing the stud away.
PB Blaster penetrating oil helps too, or if you're feeling really loaded with cash, it's worth it to get a case of Kano Kroil. Best rust-buster lube I've found ever!

so ... this is how it ends. i watched it drive off into the sunset today. but not before one last photo shoot! then we awkwardly passed it on the freeway about 15 minutes later...

in the end, we did not lose money on the car.... we didn't make much either though.

the engine ran soo well recently, i would take it across the country in a heartbeat!

Aw. Sad.

I did exactly the same thing today with a friend. His 1980 mk1 GTI is going to a new home. We took it out for a three hour drive and photos. Sad times...

Yeah. I'm way too emotionally attached to my classic. I couldn't do this.

yeah, I miss it already. The driveway feels so naked!

Truth is though, I just didn't have time for it after we bought our house. I'm glad that it went to someone who does. Car fixing time turned into house fixing time, and that's ok.

I'd love to own one again some day, when I have the resources to dedicate to it.

That was the same issue we had with Olive. We loved her to death, but she ended up just sitting in the garage and never getting driven due to repairs and a general fear of being out in traffic in her.

Of course now I'm on a bike which is even worse, lol.

Sad to see her go but these things happen.
