Default WHO makes Aftermarket Pistons and Rods for R55,56????

Pretty self explanatory... I dropped cylinder 3 when a wastegate line burst under load. The subsequent boost spike at the top of 2nd gear caused some detonation and VOILA no compression in numero tres... FML!!! I do have a spare motor but i dont wanna put stock back in. I was already looking at not being able to drive in for a while due to legal reasons so time to see what we can really do! 375 whp? LOL! Any help with this topic would be appreciated.

Look in the parts catalog of any major manufacturer. Ex. Ferrea makes valves and other top end pieces for MINIs. I think I'd check Mahle for pistions/rods first. Jan doesn't make his own (nothing against him or anything).

I dont think Jan likes me so Ill probably end up going with Mike over at ABF. Plus they have already spec'd the pistons and the rods would just be ordered to spec. Possibly cryo treat the crank...

I've seen the ones Mike has and they look as good as the ones I used to see at Cosworth.

Am I crazy or isn't Jan the B in ABF? I thought it was Chris, Jan and Hubie... Maybe I'm just not up on the turning tides of the MINI tuning community anymore.

Mike Posted This On My Thread on NAM------>

Ok so we didn't fully plan to put this out till a later date, but since a few of you have asked I decided to provided a basic rundown.

A performance oriented bottom end build for an R56 would run roughly $3,750. This is strictly working with a short block that is brought in or shipped to us.

This bottom end would include:

* Machine, bore/hone, and hot tank on the block
* ABF spec R56 pistons from JE Piston. Stock C/R in standard bore and 20 over
* ABF spec Cunningham or Carrillo Rods
* New rod and main bearings
* Front and rear main seals
* Polish and balance the crank
* Tear down, inspection, cleaning and assembly

We can also have the block re-sleeved with Darton sleeves for an additional $1,300. We recommend this for engines meant for 300+ HP

Both the piston and rods are designed using the same proven technology used in our R53 engines tested to run over 700 HP. These are designed with power in mind and need to be run together. Stock rods or pistons will not work with either one.

Right now it would take about 6-12 weeks for a complete bottom end build.
JE, Cunningham, and Carrillo have not started full production of any R56 products and each part is made for us to order. Once full production starts build times can be brought down to with 1 to 2 weeks.

Other work like full engine assembly and install can be done as well at an additional cost.

The $3,750 does not include shipping to or from our shop.
