Drew, if you are looking at doing an intake manifold just don't go have one fabricated unless you are wanting worse performance then the stock manifold provides. You should take it to someone who does sheet metal manifolds consistently because there is more science to it then you know. No offense to fabricators but you can't just throw one together have it perform without knowing how engines like air inducted.

Every once in a while there will by someone that wanders in the shop and wants an intake or exhaust manifold modified in some way.... It's completely understood that the payment for work is for metalworking skills and not engine tuning skills... Making a SS countertop vs an exhaust manifold has no correlation to each other........ other than the cutting, forming and melting of a metal. I make no pretense of being a speed shop.

However... Word gets out and the business comes in.... I'm happy.... And my customers seem to be happy.

Here is a SS exhaust manifold (Buick Grand National V6) that was modified last week.... Had to make a change to add clearance to the frame rails...

sorry to thread jack snips.

Alex, the science is the runner lengths. pretty simple. i dont know why you try to make everything sound more complicated than it actually is. tuning is the true key to making a part successful.
