Default MacBook Pro - Recycle

I have a MacBook Pro 15 inch, late 2008, OS x 10.9.1

What I want to do is give it to my father in law for his use as a home computer that he can use to surf the net etc....

What is the best / easiest way for me to clean out / delete my hard drive of all the stuff I've collected without killing any of the program files like Word / Excel etc, yet still clean out my personal stuff...

Basically I want to give him a clean computer without any of my junk?

Thanks for any suggestions....

Chuck,

I can help with that. Pretty easy to do.

Basically insert the OS disk hold down a key, power on and follow the steps.

I just did this on my kids older macbook and sold it on eBay. I can look up the instructions again.

But that will do a full restore and you will have to put back on the likes of Word!

I've gone into System Preferences under Users & Groups and am doing a "Remove Account & Home Directory"....

This should delete my stuff and leave the programs intact..... I think....
