Default Chrome Haters?

Why are most of you de-chroming?
Melissa and I had this discussion at AMVIV. She suggested all these things I could do, but I would miss my bling.
Anyway, just thought I would put this out there and hear what you all had to say on the subject.

I like my chrome. It balances the MINI out IMO. I have NEVER blacked-out my beltline. I "considered" wrapping my headlight rings.......but then the MINI wouldn't be balanced!!!! I can stand OBNOXTIOUS chrome wheels, your's are fine Dee....there OEM.....just don't go putting 18's on!!! .......

I'm a chrome hater. It's moreso because I'm into a modern sports car look, and I believe the days of chrome on a sports car are long gone. When I get a chance to closely inspect all of the chrome on my car and make sure it would hold up okay, I'm going to take a Scotchbrite pad and brush it all, for that brushed aluminum look.

Beauty is always in the eye of the beholder. The important thing is that the car is yours and you make it look how you want it to, not what others tell you to do, or what you think others want it to look like. If you do that then you will be happy with the style of your ride.

I wouldn't say i hate chrome - but i have changed a few thing to make the car more Black and Yellow ( Yellow/Black ) and some of the things that have been changed were chrome... part of the grill work - the front and rear Bumper guards.. if i can find someone to trade for a chome one- the trunk openning handle cover will be the next to go and i think that will be about it...

What does anyone think of Car Color Mirror Caps ? hmmmm

I don't HATE Chrome, I just don't feel any need to add to what I already have, and the few pieces I've blacked out (beltline, sidemarker, uh... I think that's it actually) I just preferred them in black. My door handles, headlights & grill surround will remain chrome.

I will just say this. I always hated chrome. I especially hate chrome wheels. And while every now and then I think about de-chroming Egguinn it just seems like it would take away from its character.

I guess what I am trying to say is sometimes with the right car chrome works. Although I still can't think of such a case for chrome wheels. Unless it's something like this on an old Impala:

Of-topic. Think I should get a set of these in yellow and do the conversion to the knockoffs?

I'll keep my chrome. The tidbits on my 'Coop look great. But that is part of the overall deal, black with a tan interior - somehow the chrome balances it out.

If I had an all black or red 'Coop (including the interior) I am pretty sure I'd lose a lot of chrome.

All in the eye of the beholder...

Only if you also plan to do an Impala body swap, homez.

And as Jerry said there, it's not that I hate chrome, or even that I hate chrome on MINIs, it's that I hate chrome on my MINI. There's definitely a place for it on other cars, just not on mine.

I like the chrome that already comes on the MINI...I just don't like it when people add more chrome to their minis.
