Default Bigger brakes w/ 16" wheels?

So I should have posted this in this section earlier, it went unnoticed in the ebay thread... what was I thinking? I missed out on a chance to get a set of Stoptechs for under $700... no biggie, but I will be looking for the best option that will fit my extra set of autoX/trackday wheels. Any ideas? (working on a tight budget here)

Plus 1, 2, and 3.

I'd go for the 1 or 2. The SRP Rotors in the Plus 3 are more show than go.

Thanks for that... looks promising, I'm worried about spending a bunch of money to find the wheels won't fit, and from the looks of things I should be OK with 16's unless there's something really odd about these particular wheels... and those guys look like they will work with you to iron that out ahead of time.

No problem. Yeah, I've met them at AMVIV and they seem like good people. I've been eyeing that Plus 4 kit for years now.

Those wheels look generally safe. With 16's you need a really complicated design or odd barrel shape to cause problems with those brake kits. With wheels like that that are designed like(as) track wheels, they generally leave room for the brakes.

If you already have the rims....most places allow you to print out templates to test fit before buying the brakes.

Jumping in late on this, but have you checked out IE? His BBK is supposed to work w/16" wheels, but its the OEM caliper, not some $2000 10 piston Track Demon.

Went to the IE site and checked it out. That BBK's description states it needs 17's and spacers for SLights. Interesting idea for those with 17's though, but I wonder how much of the rotor surface is swept.

They did list a Wilwood BBK much like TCE's. Competitively priced I'm sure. I'd go for TCE as I have better service there myself. But thats just me

Sorry 'bout that, it must have been someone other than IE.

We had a member of our local club put on the MOABBKs from Wilwood. Even with spacers, his 17" wheels had rubbing issues (not SLites, but some Tire Rack 17's). Our local dealer said some cars seem to have issues with the BBKs. He went with 18's and had perfect fit, but then rubbing issues going lock-to-lock. Bought the Stops MINI has for the 18" JCW wheels, and he's lovin' the set-up.
