Primes FTW.

18-200 is certainly nice, but damn it's hard to beat the crisp image & color saturation of prime. No zoom drift either.

Especially from what it looks like your are gearing to shoot, the zoom will not be a huge benefit in most cases. Plus you can rent the 18-200 or similar pretty easily for one off events (or even borrow one from a friend since that lens is pretty common).

My .02 cents...

Default B&W basics in CS3

Here's a decent collection of tips for working B&W images in CS3 from Layers magazine (the official pub of Adobe).

You can go from Mild to Wild with the effects.
I've just started exploring it and still have a lot to learn.

'Tis a nice piece indeed... Some serious coin, but well worth it. I'm still toying with getting the Nikkor 24-70 f/2.8 to replace my Sigma:

Tamron 17-50 is a great lens very hard to beat for the $$$. Its on my camera better then 60% of the time...
I am interested in the 24-70 though... Granted still waiting to see if the whole canon/nikon lens merger is more then an interweb rumor... If it does that could get interesting depending on how well the "N" Style lens work with the newer FX/MX Sensors...

Mere speculation me thinks. The combined mutiny and financial impact of combining/converting would make it unwise to merge the two...

But then again, there was a day when Canon bodies came with Nikkor lenses - 60 years ago.

I have the 30mm 1.4 Sigma. Love it! Check here and look for the sigma tag for some examples.
