Yeah, sorry... they're for R56's.

Here's the part: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...84&hg=51&fg=75

Maybe there's a similar part for the GP that could be cheaply acquired?

For the R53 parts you could try that Hunter guy in the thread I posted, he seemed to indicate he had a source but wanted to be tight-lipped about it. Also, they really look like big pieces of plastic, I wonder if they'd be terribly hard to fabricate a simplified version of.

I thought about that, as well. If the connection points are the same, they may not be... although a simple sheet of plastic would probably sag and flex significantly w/o those embossed channels... among other mounting problems.

On the other hand, a couple layers of CF on each side of a thin layer of nomex honeycomb... light AND stiff

Just checked and both the R55 & R56's with OEM aero kits have them. Each piece (2 per car) retails for around $95 each. Here's the part numbers:

R55 - 51752755791 & 51752755792
R56 - 51752753163 & 51752753164

As previously mentioned, the only OEM versions available for the 1st gen MINI's are the GP versions. Good luck getting those from MINIUSA Parts.

BTW, I just checked and the R56 JCW aero kit DOES NOT have them included.

I don't see any reason these won't bolt right up to any R55 & R56.

Anyone have a picture of the R56 panels similar to the one of the GP above? $95 apiece isn't too bad so I wonder if there aren't at least a few similar mounting points between the two cars.
EDIT: Thanks ducks, you read my mind.

I posted pics of the R55 & R56 versions above. They are unlikely to fit an R53 though.

Don't think they will fit right away, but they look almost identical. Same amount of groves, holes etc. All we need now is someone with a GP so we can start measuring

If someone only a few hours away had an R56 with them I'd drive over to try the swap, I've never seen if the R53 GPs had special hardware or if they just somehow mounted to existing points on the car.
