Default Miata flame job gone wrong - help a gearhead pay for his hospital bills.

Dumb? Yep.

But we've all done our share of stupid human tricks and this guy has no insurance to help pay for the burns he suffered trying to wrench on his first ever project car.

So pitch a couple of bucks in and help a fellow gearhead out:

I believe that someone should send him a fire extinguisher, he is too stupid to handle money.

I hate to be a dick, but I kinda agree. Doing that kind of work on a car, staring it with no exhaust header, and with a fuel container in VERY close proximity with no fire extinguisher...

I feel bad for the guy getting burnt (luckily it was only first and second degree) but as the saying goes, "If you're gonna be stupid, ya gotta be tough."

Sorry to say it but I have little sympathy for the guy...

Fuel canister right near the engine, trying to turn it over whilst it is on fire already... so many things are wrong with the whole scenario.

This video needs to posted in the "You're Doing it Wrong" thread.

I'm also posting it on other car forums as a reminder that when you're working on your car, SAFETY FIRST.

The video is going to go viral.

already has. i've sen it on a few forums, and had friends put it on facebook. it's textbook how not to work on a car. i too have little sympathy for the guy. yes we all make mistakes, i've made more than my share as well, but that guy was just stupid. you do not continue to try to start a car that's freaking on fire, and then not even bother to move the full container of fuel sitting right next to the flame. mistakes happen, but this was easily avoidable, and should never have happened. darwin at work.
