Default Im going to make a boombox

So I have decided to make a sweet portable little boombox. Every time I have a little party or go to someoneís party, or go hang out at the apartment pool we always wind up listening to music via some ones phone, generally a phone that is placed in a empty cup to make it a little louder.

Yesterday I came across a guy(http://store.theboomcase.com/) that makes portable boomboxes out of old suitcases, and old tower speakers, really cool but WAY to hipster for me, plus he is charging 400-1500 bucks for them. But I figured out what components he uses, and have decided to make my own.

Step one: find some old maybe new bookshelf speakers mounted in wood boxes

Step two: decide between two what T-amps Iím thinking about and order one. They both run on 12 volts and have a 20ish watt output and about 10-15 rms
This guy http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?partnumber=310-300
Or this guy http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?partnumber=300-380
Or this which is just the guys of the last one without a case http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?partnumber=300-385

Step three: Find some sturdy yet light weight wood to connect the two speakers across the top and bottom with space in between to mount the amp and a battery.

Step four: power. Both come with a ac converter power cord but that is not what I would call prortable.. the second amp I showed can be powered by 8 AAs or ac power but the AAs only have a life span of 5-6 then you gotta buy new batteries, lame. I want to power is with a small 12V sealed lead acid/gel battery something for a home alarm, lawnmower, or generator that can be had for 30 bucks at home depot or Wal-Mart..
A small 12V 10AH battery would sustain music at max volume for around 10-15 hours

Step 5 wire all that shit up and enjoy.

Goal is a small portable boombox thatís way better than those shitty ipod docks and on a budget of 60 bucks or so.
Very similar to this

Wow sounds like a rad project. It should make for a very unexpected and interesting build thread.

I'll post pics as parts come in and things go together.
