Default 17" 205 Recommendations ?

Hello all! I've been following this cool forum for a while now. Seems to be lots of great and knowledgeable members.

I've just become a MINI owner again. I just reacquired a MINI I built in 2004. Its an 04 R53 Cooper S, Jet Black w/Cordoba beige & Anthracite Trim. Original JCW kit, factory bodykit, JCW 18" 105's in Black and Bilstein coilovers. Only 42k miles! I included a pic below.

However its time for some updates. First going with some new wheels. 17x8 with a 20mm offset. Looking for input on the best 205 tire to use. Looking for a more aggressive look and stance.

Thanks again, looking forward to talking with you all.

I used 205/45 when I had 17x8. Not to skinny and not to beefy

Do you plan on going lower on the coilovers when you switch to 17's? 205/40-17 is a great size on the 17x8 for a low stance. Used to be the Falken 512 was the only way to go, but sticking with Falken is still a decent option now that 512's are gone. The 912 is good for a little stretch in that wheel/tire setup. It depends on what you want out of the tire, though. There are lots of great tires in that size, so it just depends on what you're after.

I'm looking for a tire that leans to the performance side, mountain & back road fun. Wear, noise and comfort are also considerations. Sounds like I'm looking for a wonder tire
