I don't think there is red stitching on the wheel...

Also, the alcantara wheel isn't fully wrapped in alcantara...just the top and bottom of the wheel. The middle part (where you hold while daily driving/cruising) is leather because alcantara tends to wear quickly.

Is the leather portion on the sides any different than the current wheel's leather - or is it softer somehow>

Its the same leather as the all leather version, the only difference is the top and bottom portions are alcantara and not leather. The parts you hold normally (if driving at 10 and 2 (or 9 and 3)) are leather for purposes of not wearing out like was already stated. If you are switching from the 2-Spoke to the 3-Spoke wheel though you also need a new airbag.

How much for the 3-Spoke airbag?

I need to talk to someone that has this and went from the 2-Spoke 2003 wheel with MFSW controls to the JCW Wheel with MFSW controls. Please PM me.

I think the difference in the leather is that the JCW wheel is real leather and the stock wheel is the same synthetic leather as the seats (and shift boots).

your current controls and airbag get transfered over to the new wheel. The three pieces (silver plastic pieces) are held in place from the back of the wheel with a philips screw as I recall from when I did mine.

There's no red stitching. The wheel, whether leather or leather/alcantara is much more plush than the stock wheel. After using the JCW wheel for a bit, the stocker feels rock hard. The real leather versus the pleather on the stock wheel makes a big difference. You will not be disappointed if you make this mod. What other part of your car do you interract with more? Once you go JCW you'll never go back.
