Default My Focus Transformation

I recently purchased some parts to completely transform the front end of my car and decided to document the changes as I go here for those who care.

Let me start off by posting a picture of my 03 focus as it looked when I bought it in July of 2003. All I planed on doing was adding a shorty antenna and tinting the windows, but I caught the modding bug and ending up doing MUCH more then that....haha.

Here's how it looked after 3 months of owning it. Already added a Borla cat back exhaust, 20% tinted windows, tinted front bumper side markers, lowered 1.8" (hard to tell with the stock wheels/tires on), Hella projector headlights, Hella magic module tail lights, a shorty antenna, and a few other small items.

10 months later and numerous more modifications it looked like this.

Some of the most significant exterior changes were the fairly rare Kaminari full carbon fiber hood ($850 new, but I had some connections), Kaminari side skirts, Kaminari front lip, European Drop mirrors, European MS Designs grill, European Lumma Tuning top wing and of course the 17x7.5 Rota wheels. The exterior pretty much stayed this way (except adding a European rear bumper with a Reiger lip about 2 years ago) for the next 3 years as I worked on the engine, interior, went to shows, and the birth of my son.

Here are 3 more of my favorite pictures of how it has looked for the past 3 years.

Well in August of 08 I had some extra money saved up and decided it was time to freshen up the exterior of my car. I was growing a little tired of the aggressive look and decided to go with a cleaner European look. I started off by getting my door handles and side moldings color matched to my car. Small items, but I think they made a world of difference. I wish I had done them a long time ago. I then added some discontinued Roush side skirts in place of the Kaminari ones. Here are 2 close pictures to show the differences (the new side skirts do NOT have the vents in them)

Old: (the side molding is off because I was in the process of installing the painted one)

A few months later I got an offer of $500 for the Kaminari hood which was a little more then I originally paid so I decided to let it go and just put on the stock hood. So here is a picture of how it currently looks:

In the parents garage I have a few European parts for the front end and a few more on there way from the U.K as we speak. I should have enough time to start installing them in the next few weeks and will update this thread as I do. So let me know what you think so far. To be honest I kind of miss the Kaminari hood, but I think with the other new European front end additions the stock hood will look much better. As far as the side skirts go, I still like my old ones, but the passenger side never fit quite good enough for me and the new ones are cleaner and fit great.

thanks for sharing. i've always been a fan of your focus. Even when you had the aggressive look going it wasn't something that I would have rocked myself, but it just plain worked. good eye and imo this thing keeps looking better and better all the time.

keep it up!

I've been watching the progression of this car in your other threads. I'm glad you made the decision to go back to the stock hood the other one had way too much going on with it. overall good work with the mods

You already know how I feel about the direction you're going with it now, but I'll add a much deserved to this project for where it has been and where it is going.

I think the hood was a little over the top, I think it does look better with the stock hood.

Very CLOSE...the pic was taken on the Southport, NC ferry on the way to the Kure Beach area.

Thanks for all the kind words guys!! The last (most recent) pic wasn't a very good one. The black grill looks very out of place without the old hood, but I luckily have something replacing it Hopefully my parts will come in this week...darn shipping from the U.K. Even if they don't I may still work on the car because I'm anxious to see how it is going to look.

Thanks again for the nice comments and feedback guys!
