True, at least get a MCS. With the way the turbo makes power, I dont see how it is slower, the MCS that is. I want to run into one and see how I compare. Mine is stock for now, but that will change, my plans are a 17% pulley and supporting mods.

oh, I was referring to the turbo. It's not quicker than a basic bolt-on R53 like mine (pulley, intake and exhaust). Now, the turbo will be quicker with some similar bolt-ons too, but I've gone through one first year turbo car and resultant guinea pig status already. Not doing it a second time...I'm content to sit back and watch others waste money until the aftermarket get it's (mostly) right - it's never as good as an OEM package (which is my reason to wait and see on the forthcoming full JCW car).

I've driven both Coopers (mine: a CVT; R56: auto) and felt them to be very similar, if not identical. The transmission puts the power down differently, in that you get more low end in the newer one, but overall very similar. If anything you feel the speed less in the new one, but that is probably due to the stock suspension and higher profile tires it had.

I would have to disagree, and this is coming from an R53 JCW driver that hates to admit what the R56 will do out of the box. I thought this was a Cooper thread anyway? I guess I should know better huh?

don't mind me......I haven't driven one yet (as said above), just relaying the feedback from my local dealer.

Haha, it's just not for me. I do fancy the new engine though, technology FTW.

That blue is hawt! I like it better than the Laser Blue, sorry Scott. I found the R56 S to be kinda touchy steering and braking. I guess I'm too used to what I have.

I didn't know the 6-speed Cooper was out yet! I guess they did say end of April, huh. May have to bug my dealer to drive one. God knows the Cooper needed a sixth gear!

I've been in an R56 MCS for the past two weeks. About the only things good I can say about it is it gets great gas mileage and the boot doesn't get as dirty. The computer does too much work for the driver in this car. This is more of a soccer mom car and the older version is more for NASCAR dads...if that makes sense.

Oh, it does get better radio reception than my 06.

Our first Cooper stick customer clocked 45 MPG on his trip home to Huntsville.

I loved the Coopers when I went to training... And I have to disagree on the fact that the CVT and the R56 Auto are similar... Since they put the new auto in the Cooper, I love it!! Totally different feel IMHO...

But it has been a while since I have driven the 6-speed manual... I quit before we got our first one in!!

I didn't know you quit! Email me and give me the scoop, so you need me to fly out and beat someone down?

How do you figure? The new one is quicker, and gets better gas mileage, Cooper and S. Again, I have an R53 so I should be on your side, I just have to point out the obvious.

looks wise
the new one looks like a flippin turd on wheels compared to the old one I would NEVER buy one...it has lost it's charm completley...it's just a BMW accident now in my eyes, just my opinion tho, no offense
