Picked it up last Thursday (well, my girlfriend did) with a new belt and new pulleys. Figured I might as well grab the opportunity to swap the crank pulley and fit a Cravenspeed supercharger pulley instead of the Kavs.
Difference is like I expected: feels a little less gutsy with the 15% supercharger pulley (instead of the 17%), like accelerating in 6th from 70 mph. On the other hand, it feels more eager over 5000rpm, getting really going on its way to the rev limiter. Wouldn't surprise me if peak power is about the same as before. The crank pulley is a OEM facelift one, being damped and about 500 grams lighter. Slight difference in revving, notabel while revmatching on downshifts and the faster revving down on upshifts. Difference is nowhere near a lightweight flywheel, but nice to have nonetheless. The misses dropped her car for some maintenance off at the garage while picking mine up, so we went to get it on Friday. Spent the rest of the afternoon hooning with both MINI's... good times and nice to see the difference in both cars. Mine is still quite a lot quicker tho... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() On Sunday there was a larger event with the Dutch NewMINIClub, where we decided to take my MINI for a change. Here's some random pictures of it I found on Facebook: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Took the long way home afterwards, via B-roads, never gets old in this car. ![]() |

Good stuff, glad you're keeping both in good order to enjoy them on the road!
Weird seeing the Dodge Ram pickup, with Euro tags and sporting an Audi sticker on though... :lol |

Took it back to the garage, but this time for some upgrades instead of repairs!
![]() ![]() Plain Brembo HC discs: ![]() Combined with Carbotech XP8 pads: ![]() Got a set of front foglight dummies (might be for a One) and used my Dremel to open them up and fit some mesh: ![]() A silicone hose goes to the wheel well, kinda aimed at the brake calipers: ![]() Probably not as good as the Challenge ducts + backing plates, but much better than nothing at all. Wasn't sure if it's an MOT issue over here, but to clean things up I got a set of switches without the front fogs: ![]() Remote mounted the oil pressure sensor: ![]() And replaced the coolant tank with a metal one: ![]() Didn't like the silver halo sidelights with the red bumper, so got a set of darker ones: ![]() Opened them up and put in a proper LED ring, like with the previous ones, but this time I went with yellow LEDs. Kinda hard to capture in a picture: ![]() After that I drove home without using the brakes, pretty interesting... ![]() |

Finally got round to do some more hooning, brakes feel great! Need a little bit of warmth in them to get going, and aren't squeal free, but braking performances has really improved. Easy to modulate and a much firmer pedal, just what I was looking for.
Oh, and here's a quick shot showing the yellow sidelights: ![]() |

Like many, my key started to look tired with the buttons desintegrating:
![]() Had been taped before, but the "open"-button stopped working completely. If you open the door via the actual lock, you've got about 15 seconds to insert the key in the ignition before the alarm starts sounding! ![]() ![]() Disassembly with a small knife and phone tool: ![]() You should keep these parts, including the small chip from the backside. I drilled out the pin holding the key part: ![]() New key arrives with all parts, including new buttons for the actual circuit board should you need those:: ![]() Added a new battery from a proper brand: ![]() All parts switched: ![]() And a normal working key: ![]() Use one of these to save you finger nails when swapping key chains: ![]() Key back in its pimped out state, as I kinda got attached to it: ![]() |

Realised it had been a while since I lasted changed the interior filter, so ordered a new one from Bosch. Got to love removing screws while hanging upside down:
![]() Old filter was one of those active carbon jobbies: ![]() Fitted a paper filter: ![]() And all back together: ![]() Havn't driven it yet, so no idea if the blower works better again now. Meanwhile, here's a random pic from last week: ![]() |
