Other than that, another fun weekend but boring race. Only thing interesting was watching Alonso hunt Hamilton while Hamilton ran for his life. It was awesome seeing Alonso pick it up, Hamilton realize it was coming, pick up the pace then seeing them both go 110% for a couple laps. It's incredible how much more the cars move around than what shows up on TV. Those guys have serious balls.

Other highlight was sitting in a restaurant and seeing David Couthard walk down a busy street packed with fans and no one notice, then walk back past a half hour later and again no one noticing.

Has Red Bull Figured Out How To Cheat F1's Traction Control Ban?

Red Bull absolutely walked away with a win at Montreal, but anyone watching the exit of the hairpin would see something was up with the way the RB9 exited the corner. Have they figured out how to use illegal traction control?

Axis of Oversteer certainly thinks so. Traction control has been banned in F1 several times in the past, most recently in 2008 when every team started to use a standardized ECU. How could RB have traction control, when the stability programming is banned? Axis believes it could be in the engine mapping.

Mercedes reprimanded for 'secret' test

Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg were given the all-clear for next week's British Grand Prix on Friday after their Mercedes Formula One team escaped heavy sanctions for a 'secret' tyre test with Pirelli.

An international tribunal reprimanded Mercedes and Pirelli for breaking the rules on testing and ordered the British-based team to miss a three-day young driver test scheduled for Silverstone in July.

The verdict, announced by the governing International Automobile Federation (FIA) in a statement after a seven-hour hearing in Paris on Thursday, will come as a relief for the team led by Formula One veteran Ross Brawn.

The tribunal had the power to impose a heavy fine, dock points or even ban Mercedes from the world championship - although that was never a likely option for one of the sport's major players.

And surprise, surprise Ferrari is mocking the lack of any real punishment...

(Reuters) - Ferrari mocked the outcome of Formula One's international tribunal on Friday with a website column suggesting Mercedes had got away with no more than a gentle rap on the knuckles for breaking the rules.
Mercedes were reprimanded and ordered to miss a three-day young driver test in July after the tribunal found they had illegally tested for Pirelli with their current car in Spain last month.
In their defense at Thursday's hearing, Mercedes had highlighted the treatment given to Ferrari who tested in April with Pirelli but avoided any charges because they had used a 2011 car.
Ferrari's response was an acerbic 'Horse Whisperer' column published on their official website (www.ferrari.com) decrying the punishment.
"Today we learned that even if one is guilty, and in this case that is an indisputable and verified fact, there is always a way of muddling through as best one can," it said in the column headed "Crime and Punishment (but make it a light one)".
"One only has to suggest to the judge what the penalty should be and even better, why not make it something light like a rap across the knuckles?"

Ross Brawn. Not only did he have Charlie's consent. He had the consent of the FIA's OWN legal counsel! He is completely bulletproof. Lauda and Wolf can never fire him, no matter how much they may want to.
Paul Hembery. It has now been conclusively shown that the current regulations don't give Pirelli enough opportunity to do effective in-season tire testing. That will change.
Losers:
FIA. They look like absolute idiots for contradicting their own legal and sporting officials. Imagine that your Dad comes home from work and beats the crap out of you for something that your Mom said you could do. That's how stupid they look.
Christian Horner. His incessant j'accuse against Mercedes without knowledge of all the relevant facts, has set in stone Red Bull's reputation as the sorest winners in sports history.

Niki Lauda. He tried to cut a deal with Bernie and FIA when Ross Brawn had the facts on his side. What a treacherous backstabber! Mercedes should fire him immediately.
