Heres the mission.
Front brakes for under $200 shipped. Possible? I know, i know I need to spend more. Id love to have some hawk HPS pads, and all that good stuff. But college on top of my Dad's unemployment limit my budget. I wanna stay at stock performance at least. Im not gonna complain if it gets better. So any recomendations

Mintex black here. over 15,000 miles and they're still going with multiple autoX's and actually outlasting the powerslot rotors that I put on the same day as the Mintex blacks

Yes, I got 50,000 miles out of my Mintex red pads. I put on 2 sets of rotors in that time frame, lol.

Autozone, 2 year warrenty on pads, lifetime on rotors. You could do front rotors and pads for $100 or so. I'm useing this setup now. I switch to Hawk blue pads when I took it to the track had great braking with little wear.

I've got generic NAPA rotors on the brown MINI - and it's my track car. No need to spend extra money on fancy rotors. In fact, the slotted rotors I got from Texas Speedwerks developed cracks, the cheapo NAPA rotors have not.

I too have NAPA rotors but feel the brake performance has suffered (Way agrees). Going back to stock to try again.

For the money ATE is your best rotor choice, but I would be more concerned about the pad than the rotor personally. You can probably source ATE's pretty cheap if you call some local parts stores.

What about the TSW Carbon Rotors? Front set goes for $145 shipped.

If your not racing why spend alot of money on rotors. Autozone rotors with lifetime guarentee are are like $27. Spend the money on a decent pad if your going to the track and switch it out. I use the Autozone pad for the street, not as good as stock but doesnt wear out and if you drive sane there are no issues. On the track I would switch to the hawk blue and had all the brake I could use without fade. I just cant take the noise of hard pads on the street. I also could care less about dust, I just wash the wheels. I used the TSW rotors for about a year, worked well with stock type pads but the Hawk blues ate em up quick.

You gotta go with what makes you comfortable, especially with brakes. Trusting your brakes is one of the easiest ways to get faster at the track.

Stick with OEM stuff if you can. Call around to folks like Way Motor works or Detroit Tuned and see what they can work for you...

you still out of state David? if not, talk to Chad, and come down to the Chuck for the day. We'll put the brakes on and get some lunch!
