beltline blackout kills many cars....and makes a few look good. Be careful cause removing that subtle highlighted line down the side of the car can really change the look either good or bad.

I just used some electrical tape stuff like steve. I worked ok but I kept streching the tape when I was putting it on so it would always pull back a few hours later and show some chrome. I redid it a few times and now I just don't have it on. I'm just gonna wait till I get the right kind of tape but if you have any electrical tape around your house your can do a pretty decent job just to get a feel for what it would look like.

dont pay....

i did it in 10 min....

1/2" is the way to go.

its only 5 dollas in parts. so who cares if you mess up once.

bring an exacto knife and dont forget about the "evil" stretching effect of the e-tape

i wasnt satisfied with the results... you can tell its a shortcut mod.... there is only one way to do it right.

you must realize this is all coming drom the greatest MINI chrome hater of all time. luckily it matches my rims nicely, so i dont mind it soo much yet.

So you did electrical tape or the 3M Scotchcal? I hate electrical tape. The adhesive eventually turns into slime that allows the tape itself to slide around.

I did this photoshop to see what it could look like. I think I'm going to do it this weekend with a guy form my local club who's got some tape.

I also blacked out the arch reflectors.

I think it looks hot, but in a way, it leaves the polished lip around the wheels unresolved. HMMmm. I would leave the front grille surround in chrome to match up with the wheels.

why is that called the beltline? i spent this whole thread pondering that.
i think it looks pretty good in that photoshop but thats just one of those mods that no one is really going to notice so you just gotta do it if it'll make you happy. i personally don't mind the chrome there but i can see if you're going for that whole no-chrome look.

Hmmm... I see what you guys mean now. Kind of like the polish of the chrome going around the top of the car as well as around the wheels. Well now I'm undecided again.

luckily its reasily removable.....and cheap. That's what is so great about vinyl.

Decisions like this are what REAL styling is all about. I think either could work with your car very well....it's just deciding which one is better.

See I'm also thinking it would leave the little bits of chrome on the car with the little bit of chrome on the wheels. I think I'm going to go ahead and do it since it is removable and cheap (trading some center caps for it) I'm gonna have to see it HUGE and in real life to really decide.

For some reason I thought the tape was like $30 for a roll...
