Default Los Angeles BMWCCA Autocross June 18th

The next Los Angeles BMWCCA Autocross is June 18th at Hollywood Park.

You must be a BMWCCA member ($40 and totally worth it for the Roundel magazine and the chapter newsletters).

Cost has not been announced, but expect it to be roughly $65 if the Hollywood Park event is anything like this past weekend's autocross at California Speedway.

LOCATION: Hollywood Park in Inglewood
TIMES: Not posted as of this time, but expect a 6-6:30 AM gates open, a 7 AM start for registration, and FIRST COME FIRST SERVED registration until the 80 car limit is met.

CLASSING: the Los Angeles chapter has been known to run the MINIs in separate classes if enough show up, otherwise, they are thrown in with some other BMWs. The MC and the MCS are in different classes.

From what Giovanni at BMWCCA just sent me, the entrance is at Gate 1 and the pit area will be to your left just past the gate.

The map below is from the Hollywood Park site, but I rotated it 90 degrees so that North is facing Up. The orientation on their site was a little confusing.

We're up to 9 MINIs planning to run this event.

So if I want to run both cars, do I have to pay 2 entry fees?

You should ask Giovanni Jaramillo (the contact point at the L.A. BMWCCA for this event). The e-mail address is gjaram@hotmail.com

You may not even be able to do it. Keep in mind if you run in two different run groups, they are probably going to make you work two different work group sessions. Driving two cars in the same run group would be pretty impractical. Trading off drivers in the same car is do-able though.

Most of the mu people are road track drivers.

It would be great to get a few to run.

I wish I could plan for this or the San Diego run. Unfortunately most weekends in May are taken...

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

My main goal here by promoting this on NAM, C3, Mininuts and here on m|u is to try to fill out the MINI ranks more at this event. BMWCCA is definitely welcoming of the MINI and these are well run events. BMWCCA is treating MINIs just like BMW's. We don't run in a "non-BMW" class. I think MINI enthusiasts could benefit a lot from some closer ties to BMWCCA.

Mainly though, this is a bit self serving. I want to keep racing BMWCCA autocross and I don't want to be racing against myself in the MC class.

haha - I think it is a great idea promoting on all the sites.

The more MINIs the better at all events.

Default B U M P...

4/18 Update - Two months to go...

We now have 13 firm along with the possibility of 3 MCS owners coming down from Fresno to run in this event. Click the image to open in full size.

I'm starting to think that having 20 MINIs (1/4 of the entries) running this event isn't out of the question.

The MINI contingent from Fresno has been moved off the tentative list and onto the list of those planning on participating.

With that we're now at 16 MINIs for the Hollywood Park BMWCCA Autocross.

20 MINIs seems reasonable now. The BMWCCA regulars are definitely going to wonder what the heck happened.
