I won't drive it because I'm still really inexperienced, but I'd like to come down and watch.

Lauren,

I'd love to have you there driving or spectating.

Just a little background that may make you more comfortable with driving it. The BMWCCA events are pretty friendly for first timers. In the morning practice sessions they first have an instructor drive your car with you in the passenger seat through the course so you get a look at it at speed. Then the instructor goes with you for the remainder of the practice. You can also take an instructor with you for your timed runs in the afternoon if you'd like. The penalty for messing up isn't very high either. It's just a big parking lot with no curbs and the most you'd hit is a rubber cone. If you get off course, you are still on the pavement, so unlike the track you don't go off into the dirt/rocks and such. Also, if you don't have a helmet, they have a limited number of helmets available for rental at $10 a day.

All that said, whatever you decide to do, it'll be good seeing you there.

Dave

EDIT: one final thing, I believe that for about 1/3 to 1/2 of the MINIs coming this will be their first time autocrossing.

EDIT2: Just added new C3 member and new MC owner Salette as our 4th MC owner and 19th participant.

Hi Lauren,

Please consider driving the autocross... You will be in control of the gas pedal, and no one else will be pushing your foot down. It is a personal challenge for each individual and their car...

It is the single best mod anyone can do for their car....

Everyone is a beginner at first - come visit, if you still don't want to try it.

Cool. It would be great to have you.

Also, there is a BMWCCA autocross out at California Speedway July 16th. That'll be quite a bit closer for you.

The first post has been updated with a map.

For anyone coming out, the entrance is through Gate 1 off of Prairie.

Yeah, that's made it hard for a lot of people. I have a feeling that if it weren't father's day we'd be up over 30 MINIs planning on attending.
