as compared to what? a 50 f/1.8

the 35 f/2.0 is a bit slower but would probably have slightly better optics..

Compared to the 50? The 35 will have a wider field of view which could offer more distortion depending on what you want to photograph and be slightly darker (@ f2).

Question ... On the full frame cameras like the 5D Mark II I was told only specific lenses work with them. Is this true? if so which ones?

EF lenses, EF-S are only for Crop Sensor camera's (IE 50D, 40D, XT, XTI, XS, XSi etc.. ) basically on a FF camera the shutter mechanism can hit the lens (also the base won't fit, lastly even if it does fit, the camera will try to get data from where there is no lens as they are designed to only use the middle area.

hope that helps

The 50mm 1.8 is one of the cheapest lenses out there. However, it delivers good optical quality especially for the price. The 35 is a better lens period. It's got a much better build quality and will deliver better quality pictures. However, it is approx. double the price. So, it's up to you as to whether it's worth it. Check out the links below. Incidentally, any lens I'm considering I look up on this guy's site. I consider him the bible of lens reviews.

Also note, EF lenses can be used on any FF or crop sensor Canon body. EF-S are crop sensor only.

Sell em and get the new ones. One nce thing though is all your lenses become wider so like a 24-70 then becomes a way cooler walk around lens.

It's a sick camera but not as a #1.. I'd use it as a backup imho..

I wanna 5dMKII bad.. I really wish they had a new body ~15mp FF like inbetween the 7d and 5d.. I don't need 26mp... but I also don't wanna 1d, shrug
