I wouldn't go up there with a GS (or a GT-R) unless I had Tsuchiya-like skills.

And I bet this gets covered under insurance while a crash on a closed race track does not.

Wow, the reason insurance premiums are so high! Thanks to all those douche bags out there who have to ruin the canyon or touge for those of us who can drive well within our means and still hustle our cars!

His insurance company actually found the YouTube video and denied his claim.

He later tried to re-claim it under his girlfriend, and they charged him/her with insurance fraud.

I believe the car is still not fixed.

In what that article calls, "an apparent nighttime street race". What an expensive lesson to learn.

Its not only a problem with driver skills but on public roads you have road hazards such a dirt, gravel, oil, and God knows what else. The Evo could have easily missed a road hazard and the GTR hit it.

This is the exact reason to take it to a local road course. Then you can brag by who ever has the better lap times. Im sure $200 is a LOT cheaper then the deductible on the insurance. At least at a track they keep it free of debris and oil and all traffic is going in the same direction.

The driver is 21, and I was figuring that he's probably a rich kid who has the means to replace the car anyway. However, the city of Diamond Bar is apparently not at all an affluent community and it's just bad news all around.
