Default tweedbean's R53 MCS

As project orange was completed, I have decided to start a new thread around my car showing where it started, what it looks like now and what my future plans are. This is less of a project and more of an ongoing thing.

Its a 2004 facelift MINI Cooper S. I was bitten by the modding bug after a year of ownership and I haven't stopped since.

The car has gone from this just over 12 months ago:

After my first mod, a minimania CAI, I couldnt stop, by early 2010, the car looked like this with its Red GP intercooler, minimania CAI, OMP strut braces, lots of chrome and new stripes:

Then in early Jan 2010, I needed three new runflats and it worked out cheaper to buy a used set of BBS RZ's of Ryank with T1R's and this is where it began. Two weeks later I bought my Sparco Milano seats.

And from then on Project Orange was born.

Project Orange 2010:

The plan was to introduce an accent colour and make the car more standout with some changes here and there. A year later ands its amazing how changing wing mirror caps to orange ended up how it has with all the interior and exterior changes, as well as the engine mods that definitely were part of the original plan.

First step was to remove the chrome with colour coding the headlight rings, fitting an aero bumper and cc'd aero grill:

At this point the car looked like this:

The next thing was to get the wheels powder coated to give it a more aggressive look

Drag Racing 2010:

Now it had its aggressive look at power, it was time to test it, firstly at Shakespeare raceway, followed by 3 visit to RWYB days at Santa Pod in 2010

Later in 2010 I had more custom bits for the interior like the alcantara with black, silver and orange stitching, Rich also made me these awesome steering wheel inserts in alcantara:

Track Use 2011:

Then in 2011 I decided I needed to take this thing on the track so we arranged a track day at Curborough with yamMINI. Despite being the only MINI with out coilovers, my car held its own.

Having had a big shake up in my life over the last few weeks, I have been spending as much time as possible working on the car to keep my mind busy. Which has meant I could finally get my interior finished I wrapped the headliner and painted all the fixture and fittings in satin black.

P1010820 by tweedbean, on Flickr

Next thing was to replace the temporary red rear delete panels with Orranje custom orange ones which look ace:

P1010785 by tweedbean, on Flickr

Click the image to open in full size.
P1010790 by tweedbean, on Flickr

I then gave the interior a clean ready for Himley next week. I also repainted and polished some of the gloss black cup holder rings as they were all chipped:

P1010932 by tweedbean, on Flickr

Next on the list was to fit the Orranje GP rear bumper trim and reflectors. I've also had my Orranje GP Inserts painted gloss black. I like the little orange reflectors on the side, just need to buy the kit to connect them up. The car is dirty in these pics, I will take some more pics when I have the coilovers on:

And for all those that keep telling me that I need to slam the car on its arse, you will be pleased to know I have a set of Meister R's on there way from Jerrick

I have also had chance to do a few other minor jobs like refitting the aero grills on the side skirts and getting Rich to weld up and fill the holes in my boot lid. I also used a dent pulling tool to remove the dents in the boot lid, now thats an ace tool

Love It!! I love orange on cars. I have always debated going orange against the space blue and for too long I had people telling me to to keep it "checkmate." I'm done with that as all the "checkmate" vinyl is now all removed. I have a few more things I need to "fix" but the change is coming and I'm super-excited and if something else gets in the way well... Grrr

Great build, great thread Orranje should offer the custom Alcantara Gaiters and down tube covers. I'd be very interested in that.
