Default Rev's Mini

Well I just burned through my first level of warranty and my car is officially two years old so I thought it was time to look back.

Sitting on the lot at Habberstad:

First step, garage buit "no holes" plate mount, black grill trim and a joey mod:

Second step, mach v springs:

Third step, drag dr-16:

4th step, garage built shift boot delete and shift knob:

I got bored and decided to take my bonnet strips of one day:

And then H&R coilovers showed the mach v's who's boss:

Had the rear seat backs out since the first month and had an excuse for this project, so I created the frankenstein rear strut bar:

I wanted a way to justify (in my mind) taking my front plate off. So I installed these, see no more room. Oh well:

I was detailing the car and got pissed off by the oem armrest, it went under the knife and came out like this:

Most recently I impulse bought a m7 scoop and spun the H&Rs down the rest of the way (last 10 threads in the rear) and here is how we stand as of now:

Soooo many more plans, I move slow, but this car will be with me for a long long time so I am unconcerned. In the near future I'm thinking exhaust and a roof basket (I have already built two and scrapped them but I think third times the charm).

Thanks for reading if you got this far. Comments are much appreciated.

Some are secret because I want to be the first to do them.

However I can tell you I want to get my wheels anodized (silver lips, black spokes). Hoping to achieve something like this:

Playing with doing most of the chrome left on the car bodycolor. JCW front bumper (I'm not a fan of the side skirts and rear bumper.

I need a whole slew of suspension parts to get it where I want it to be. Endlinks, camber plates, rear control arms, rear sway bar and poly bushings.

I think the last thing to come will be power adders. Since reliable tuning is just now coming out I'll let others in the community determine the best way to mod the r56s before I start.

Impulse by around christmas time. Picked up a spare shifter. Yesterday went to work on it.

I hate getting the mini on stands, such a PITA.
Click the image to open in full size.

Cut it down 1.25" and bent it back about 10-15 degrees. Also painted the shaft which was something I had wanted to do on the old rig for a long time. It came out exactly how I hoped, the shorted lever plus the helix short shift adapter make for really crisp short throws. And now I can actually reach 3/5 gear comfortably (short arms FTL). Anyway,,,results:

Oh and here are a couple shots from my holiday visit up north:

love the car, btw what size tyres you got there?

no offence meant, because i do love the look of the car but is it an american thing to have fat tyres?

thats the only thing i'd change, get a lower profile

looking awsome though

The tires are 215/50/16.

Its a slightly different aesthetic that I wanted to try at the time.

Have you looked at allot of the american MINIs on this site? Fat tires are definitely not the norm. Except maybe on track setups.

My next wheel/tire setup (hopefully coming in the next month or so) will have a very different look.

Definitely more of a "track day" look, but with the absence of wheel gap it's not necessarily unappealing.
