looking into getting custom adaptors made from 4x100 to 5x112

something like this

Click the image to open in full size.

they are Audi Speedlines off an A3 7.5jx18 E54

but just want to know more specs about MINI wheels/hubs for the MINI side of the adaptor

the car would be a R56 Cooper, what is the thread size of the car ive been told both m12 and m14 so dont know which one to believe?

also is the center bore of a MINI 56.1?

roughly what are the offsets of standard MINI wheels?, so i can get an idea what thickness to go for

thanks in advance for the help, and if theres an easier way to get 5x112 rather than the expensive of the adaptors let me know

Hub bore is 56.1. Lugs are M14 & standard offset is normally around et45. Lots of info on OEM wheel et here: http://www.mini2.com/forum/faq.php?faq=faq_wheels_tyres

Get 18mm adapters. That's the thinnest you can go and would be perfect for 7.5 wide wheels if you want the flush stance look.

1552/adaptec speedware make the highest/best quality adapters, but they're in the middle of working hard to improve on their design. They should have them available again shortly, though.

R56 are 14mm

After talking to adaptec a few months ago about adaptors for my R56 4x100 -> 5x120 I discovered that because fo the 14mm lug size the smallest adaptor we can run for anything under 5x130 is either 25 or 30mm, can't remember which.

Which would mean a best case scenario of 7.5 et29, which would be right near the threshold of too pokey for a 7.5 IMO.

Definitely get in contact with adaptec(or somebody) and hash out the details though. I almost bought a set of 17x8.5 et50(i think) oem bmw wheels before getting a response from adaptec which would have been a big mistake.

Very true....I always forget about the second gens. No one makes the 14mm hardware to run the skinnier (18mm) adapters.

It's basically not possible to get adapters for second gens unless you want to run the super super wide ones that use your factory bolts....but those are like 25mm wide.

Yah, I had my hubs custom machined to be 5x112 instead of 4x100.

Not exactly an "affordable" mod if you include the cost of parts.

I talk to them on a very regular basis and consider them good friends....I can assure you that they are doing their absolute best to get everything out as soon as they possibly can. They seem to be catching up finally

No, that car is just a figment of your imagination.

Yes. As mentioned above, if you go as wide as 5x130 the 14mm bolts become a possibility. Also, since Porsche wheels are normally high offset you can get by with a thicker adapter anyway.

If the VW ones allow for 14mm lug bolts you could probably use them. Custom would be the safest method though. Remember that you're adding a point of failure to a vital area of the car. Incorrect centerbores on that or the wheel add more stress to the bolts which isn't advised.

+1 to not necessarily electing for the cheapest option when I comes to wheels, tires, and brakes. Always err on the side of caution.
