Default Replacing the antenna base

I had a stubby antenna in my stock R53 base (no nav or satellite radio) and it caught my garage door and snapped off, breaking the base as well. So I need a new one. I'd like to get a shark fin but haven't been able to find one on my own. I thought some Honda model had one that worked but I can't find that reference now.

Anybody know if there's something out there that will work?

Second do I remove and replace the antenna base?

i believe you either have to remove the head liner to access the bolt/nut that holds the base to the roof or the top piece may pop off revealing the bolt/nut.

i would suggest looking into the latter as it requires less work. I'd be interested to hear how it comes off for when i shave mine.

here's some images showing the assembly, it looks like maybe from the outside you can take it off?

I have an 06 w/ the factory alarm. When I deleted my antenna, I popped off the cover in the rear of the head liner, and then using a series of wobbles/extensions I was able to get a socket (22mm maybe, I had to use the closest SAE socket I had) on there. I don't think this damaged the wires, but make sure you don't, cause the part isn't exactly cheap. Also both wires from the antenna each have a clip up there.

I tried popping off the clips that held up headliner, but I couldn't get decent access that way (headliner started creasing).
