Default Tire recommendation

My Yokohamas are in need of replacement and I did not like them. No traction in turns and no tread life. Can somebody recommend a summer performance tire that is:
  • modestly priced
  • handles OK in the rain (Doesn't happen often but when it does the crazies come out and I want to be able to avoid them )
  • good tread life
I tried General Exclaims before and they simply did not hold up...blew through three of them. Found the Hankook Ventus V12 evo K110 on Tire rack, curious if it's any good?

I've been running the hancooks for a little over a year now and I'm happy with them. That said, I also ran the generals, and I had no issues with those either. I'm REALLY happy with the tread life on them too.

That all being said, where are you located? These are summer tires so you should have a winter set if needed in your climate too.

I live in Vegas (Somehow that was deleted from my post..Hmmm) and I drive the stock 205/45/R17 tires. So, don't really need winter tires...That said, I have a second set of wheels, been considering putting some on those just in case.

I think the best max performance summer tire in 205/45/17 would be either
the Bridgestone Potenza S-04 PP or the Continental ExtremeContact DW.
The Bridgstone is a bit heavy (23#) but is on $104 special right now,
and it's a better overall performer than the Cont. DW (weighs only 19# and $100).
I think either of these would meet your needs well.

If you need runflats, then everything is expensive and the main two choices
are the ContinentalContiSportContact 3 SSR and Pirelli P Zero Run Flat after
eliminating the heaviest ones and the ones with low treadwear ratings.
Unfortunately, I don't know much about either one of those two.
