Lower ISO = Less noise

For the best results at night: use your lowest ISO and tripod mount the camera.

[sidetrack]
If you must hand hold the shot: Open up the aperture to its largest setting (F/2.8 is big, F/22 is small). Then bump the ISO up to raise the shutter speed high enough that you can get a non-blurred shot. Only raise the ISO as high as you need to to get a useable shot. If you can get by at ISO 400, use ISO 400, if you have to go to ISO 800, go to ISO 800. Sometimes you may have to push to ISO 1600 to handhold, but it's going to require noise processing when you're done
[/sidetrack]

Regarding ISO and shutterspeed:

Changing from ISO 200 to ISO 100 requires a doubling of the shutterspeed length (say from 10 seconds at ISO 200 to 20 seconds at ISO 100). If your image is under or over exposed then at night you need to bracket on TIME. So you could shoot ISO 100 at 15 seconds if you were over exposed at 20 seconds OR you could shoot at 25 seconds at ISO 100 if you were under exposed at ISO 100.

Thanks Dave, I'm gonna play around with it next time, i just hate how it looks so good on that litle LCD screen on the camera, but then when you upload it on your computer it's well.., not so good, then you're kicking yourself, cause you wasted all that time and the shots coulda been soooo much better...

thank again!

and thanks Kilo
