Because in many cases, cost is not always proportional to level of safety. In other words, an $800 helmet won't necessarily protect you any better than a $400 helmet, it just looks cooler.

i mean.....i wouldn't trust this thing with my life on a track. I just think it would be pimp for whenever i bough a miata or old MG and wanted to go for a cruise in the country-side with my scarf (and moustache ) flapping in the wind

I have borrowed both full face and open face helmets. I like the extra field of vision and lighter weight of the open face, but there is a feeling of secureity with the full face. What would be a good recomendation in the $200 -$350 range. SA rating of course.
