To be that far off the pace they'd need to be corded Donut Saftey spares. Even really bad tires only account for a couple seconds at best. Musta have had a flat.
Just saw Emillio cracked a 1:58 in that same run group in his 150whp miata. He just pulled the win at Mid Ohio in TTC a few weeks ago. I hear that miata weighs NOTHING.

Old but not made of wood... I think they could have run better on street tires if thats the case.

Yes it was . The car performed fine as far as the power train went . The only issue was two sets of dried out tires not being able to keep up with the power. This was one of the final events of the series and rather than jeopardize any of the points leaders with a VERY difficult handling car he put it back in the trailer. A tough decision but clearly the prudent one. He will be back, no worries

Flat corded Donut Saftey spares maybe???

That's booking for a 150 hp Miata, how much does it weigh?

roughly 2k lbs IIRC. Emilio's driving is what really does it... he's truly one with the miata in so many ways. His car retains VVT etc... so the HP figure isn't what is important as it's really class limited, it's the good ole area under the curve.

FWIW team 949 swept every class on track this weekend with some very smart teamwork. They controlled the lead and ergo were able to manage the position of back markers to such a degree that they were able to get their lower class cars a lap ahead of the competition with yellow strategy.

The miata is just now coming to it's own in NASA racing. I predict many many rule changes that sort of change the miata's effectiveness in every class.

The question is... just how much more can you hamstring these cars then they already have?
