Default Cornelius - So stuffy, how about Mr. C

Just started a thread in the Introduction but thought I'd go ahead and get one started here as well to introduce - Cornelius!

He is a little 'long in the tooth' (2003 MC) but really only shows his age at the top of his steering wheel

He still seems limber and 'spritely' to me but he is also my first MINI so I don't know if my opinion is accurate. All I know is that I usually grin from the time I get in till the time I pry my fingers off the wheel - and that's just going to pick up chinese.

He's been around Indy (our home base) since he arrived off the boat (production date 01/03) and has stamps from local dealer in manual for basic services.

Members in the club do know of about 3 SiG/B in the area but aren't sure who was original driver - all I know is he's a blast to drive and definitely a conversation starter even among the MINI crowd!

So without further blathering on - heeeeeeerrrrrrrrrreeeeeee''''sssssss Cornelius!

And I posted in the other thread, but I"ll post again. YAY SG!!! It always turns heads. Strangely enough, as rare as they are, there's another SG/W that lives within 5 miles of my house... And I haven't seen another one ever...

I'm considering leaving the mods off Cornelius - and put all that attention in the next MINI - while trying my best to keep Cornelius in the garage. Something about the color being retired and the 'stockness'

True. The only thing I wanna do to Mini (I don't have a name for him yet) is some coils/ springs and maybe the wheels in white to match the roof. Otherwise I love the look.

Thanks, still getting used to the post process - but got a chance to see your MINI - like the white roof/mirrors. Cornelius can be a little steamy if you try and wash some of the Indiana crud and the sun is out!

Lol... Mini has that problem too. I think I'm gonna do another detail job in a week or so when he gets back from the shop. How's Cornelius' clutch? Mini's is starting to go (at 50k miles)...

So far so good - ok now I've jinx'd it. I've been plesently amazed - except for CarMax not resetting the oil change light before I signed the paperwork, Cornelius has only shown me a couple of 'idiosycracies'. Like resetting the clock to the 24-hour, resetting the mileage tripmeter, and blowing a headlight in the second week.

Other than that, I've been perfectly happy.

Well good! Five years on, we've had very few issues too. There are a couple things I'd like to do differently, but since I'm not Mini's owner, I won't. Cheers though!

You're quite right (I seem to be typing Brit speak - hope that's only temporary - my KY relatives might just disown me )!

Cornelius is home based just north of 56th & Georgetown. But working downtown takes me on adventures everyday - trying to find the quickest, shortest, curviest (if possible in Indy), and safest path.

But my job also takes me to the four corners of the state (literally). The day after I acquired Cornelius from CarMax, I took off for Cass County (Logansport) to be followed Bedford, LaPorte, Wabash, and Jasper! For those of you not familiar with Indiana, think as far north to south as you can go without leaving the state Upcoming East to West.

I'm still trying to ID the 3 different MINIs in the State Parking Garage! And how did that EB/B MCS w/Blk Strips get the parking space so close to the exit

Definitely not Konky quality but hey....

One at the BMW autox....

And here is one I'll call "...the before..." - I'll post another one soon that will not have the dome on the left (it recently got deflated)....

And yes, Mr. C is still stock but I'd really like to get another MINI - so many mods I'd love to do - but not to Mr. C

Just added a pic of Mr.C and his long lost brother to the garage but thought I'd post it here as well.
Click the image to open in full size. sorry for the size, only had my cell phone with me. And except for the wheels, identical twins - even down to the wheel gap! But in our defense - consider that we are in fact saving the rest of the country from all those bear attacks!

Stay tuned, Mr.C actually got his 'first' mod over the weekend! Pic to follow once I find them...

"Luke, I am your father...." After watching those movies with the sound up too loud, Mr.C persuaded me to jump in the pit of mods. And so it begins with Mr.C, his slow and eventual journey to the dark side!

OK OK ok... it's not much but hey, don't want to raise his oil pressure with too many changes

So from "no Mods" to a complete chromeout.... that's the initial plan followed by:

-tint (looking at legal 35% - but things can change)
-rear seat deletion (custom made cover in the works)
-new shoes (hopefully 17" but we'll see)
-coil overs (to avoid those pesky bears I'm drawing to the state)
