I took the Cooper off, left the "S" and replaced the red ones (back and scuttles) with the domed blue "S" to match the car.

Oddly I like the Mini badges, I usualy shave badges off any car I mod.

But here is a question. Will the smaller nose badge on the 1st gen S fit on the same location on the rear hatch as the larger one back there? I would think they share the same holes as the Nose badge on the Cooper is the same as the S rear.

I don't think so, but I can test it out tonight to be sure. I'm pretty sure the holes in the back are both larger and spread further apart.

Edit: Whoops, didn't see that you mentioned 1st Gen.

i, personally, went with the bug & tar remover option. i bought a bottle, turtle wax brand, for i think $5.99 at ace. if you're more than 3 inches away from the car, you don't notice a thing.

and even if you're right next to the car, you need to be looking for the residue to see it. and i do plan on further washing the body until it's 10000000% gone.

as for the holes, i made a little boo-boo pulling out of a parking lot a few weeks ago, and need to get my rear-right quarter panel fixed now, so while my car's in the shop, i'm gonna try and have them fix the holes.

as for sizing and spacing of the holes, on the first-gen minis, rear holes are ever-so-slightly closer together than front, and in addition to that, the front holes have a third hole right in between them. second gen, i can't speak for, because i only own one mini, it's an R50, and i don't feel like ripping apart someone else's R56 just to know how much of a pain debadging is.

hey guys one quick question.. i know it is probably easier to heat up the badge before taking it off, but is it stupid to try to do it without having it warmed up... i dont have an outlet near my car port and its not to warm right now in washington state... should i just wait untill i can do it right?
