Default r56 interior retrofit

So i'm obsessed with the black interior of the 2011+ (maybe 2010) mini's. I love the black buttons and i think it gives it a super clean look.

my question is, if i find a totalled/part out 2011 mini, can i swap everything in the column BELOW the speedo? Meaning if it has the non-auto ac like mine, will the parts match up AND WORK?

The parts can be physically mounted in your car most likely, but you may have problems coding the stuff tied into the ECU to work with your car (auto AC, speedo, etc...).

I don't mean the actual auto AC or speedo, i mean if it's the identical setup (non-auto ac) and everything below the speedo

There are some subtle differences that make it not a direct fit.

You'd have to upgrade the BC1, as the control elements have changed.

You will then have to swap out the stereo system.
MINI changed quite a lot in that area behind the dash.

So that will leave you with swapping the speedo too, as the radio controls/display have changed and are not compatible.

IIRC you might run into some problems, programming the newer components to the pre-facelift data-bus architecture.

So yes, it can be done, but it's a long, stony and expensive road to go.

Wouldn't you just be able to swap the gauge faces if you have a 2011+ model? I'd think that it'd be a not too difficult opening of the gauge, remove the needle, install and reassemble. Of course I am talking out of my rear so I could easily be missing something.

i believe there are aftermarket vendors that make different color gauge faces, and yeah, they're just an overlay. this doesn't change the color of the radio buttons, and the fact that the JCW speedo goes up to 160 mph while tamer versions only go to 150 mph, i believe.

and i believe the op wants black AC controls and toggle switches. Flamez and Scotty are telling him those are tied into the ECU and require reprogramming.
